LEAD ARTIST PLAYGROUND.

(Pilot Playground 2018-19, sessional artist).

Playground recognises that the first years of life are the most critical for a lasting impact on a child’s creativity and support to succeed. Playground aims to empower the creativity of young children and their families by giving access to the the highest quality cultural and creative practice. Nicola is one of  four Lead Artists working with a team of multidisciplinary artists creating engaging and sensory experiences for babies, children, evacuees, children with additional needs and their families. Playground is in Libraries, Children’s centres, festivals, Wyvern School, MASH KCC multi agency hubs and cultural spaces across Kent. Playground aims to empower parents and carers with the confidence and enthusiasm for continued and sustained creative engagement with their children.

As Lead Artist, Nicola is responsible for the aesthetic and design of Playground, she develops and curators the materials for the various settings and participants. Nicola has illustrated Playground publications ‘Baby Playground’ and ‘Out of the Box’, designed Snodland Library Window vinyl and co-created Digital Playground.

Playground Lead Artists deliver professional development for Inspire Culture, Nottingham and KCC Library staff.

Playground is funded by ARTS COUNCIL ENGLAND,  Kent County Council and Kent Libraries.
